On Wednesday 17 July, staff from the community-based arm of Middleborough Football Club, MFC Foundation, joined Tchoukball UK Level 1 Tutor, Pete King and MFC Foundation Project Work/Outlaws Tchoukball Club player, Marshall Thorogood for a Level 1 Tchoukball Coaching Course at Eston Leisure Centre in Middlesborough.

The Tchoukball UK Level 1 Coaching Course offers a great opportunity to bring our fun and inclusive sport to new audiences. This is Tchoukball UK’s first venture with a football club and we look forward to seeing how the now qualified Tchoukball Level 1 Coaches at MFC Foundation brings our sport to their turf.

Marshall Thorogood, MFC Foundation Project Worker/Outlaws Tchoukball Club player, who helped organise the link with Tchoukball UK, commented: “Having had the chance to play, learn and support tchoukball on a personal level, I wanted to share this great sport with my colleagues so that they are able to take the sport into the schools we work with. Tchoukball has unique qualities such as fair play, inclusiveness and is all-round fun which I know the children would love.”

Tchoukball UK Level 1 Tutor, Pete King added: “As a Level 1 Tutor, it was great to have the opportunity to work with a professional football club and sharing our passion for sport. These courses aim to develop participant’s knowledge and skill of tchoukball and we look forward to seeing them pass this on to their wider team and young athletes. The staff were fantastic throughout and it was easy to see why they are successful in the community projects they work on.”

MFC Foundation runs a number of different initiatives and programmes – from Premier League Primary Stars which aims to develop important life skills in children aged 5-11, to the UK-wide #iwill Project which focuses on young people being positive role models in the community.
