Portsmouth - Andrews and Challenge Cup WinnersPortsmouth were the big winners as they took home two titles from the Tchoukball UK finals day in Kettering.

Portsmouth Drakes won The Andrews Cup, while the club’s second team Portsmouth Ducks took home The Challenge Cup title. The top tier competition, The Super Cup, was won by Bury Kings. Portsmouth went into The Andrews Cup as favourites after winning the competition last year.

Martin Cates wins Players' Player awardTchoukball players, coaches and volunteers were celebrated at the 2016 annual Tchoukball UK Awards Ceremony in Kettering. Among the main prize winners was veteran UK and Bury Kings player Martin Cates, who, in his final season as a UK player and coach, was named Player’s Player.

Cates' name was sung and he was given a standing ovation as he collected his trophy. Guildford players Mack Hofberg and Eithne McCarthy were named Sportsman and woman of the year respectively. McCarthy was also named Sports Personality of the Year by her fellow players for infectious personality on and off the court.

National League Round 6It was celebrations all round for Bury Kings and Headingley as they ensured National League success in round six.

Bury beat Guildford Inferno and Southampton Stags to be crowned Super League champions, while Headingley secured the Division One title with victories over Guildford Ignite and Portsmouth Ducks. Kings were pushed hard by Guildford, who went into the final third in the lead, but Kings managed to edge ahead, eventually winning 64-57. By beating Southampton 82-55, Bury took their unbeaten record in the league to three seasons, winning every match in the process.

National League Round 5It was a successful day for Bury St Edmunds Tchoukball Club at the fifth round of the Tchoukball UK National League.

It was Headingley Outlaws that benefited most from Bury's performances, as the club's three sides won all of their fixtures.

As a result of wins for both Bury Saints and Bury Wolves against Leeds Cosmos, Headingley leapfrogged Leeds second team into top spot in Division One, having themselves beaten Portsmouth Uni Pythons in a tight match.

Yorkshire and The Humber round upLeeds Galaxy retained the Yorkshire League regional championships for a fourth year after wins against Headingley and Leeds Galaxy. Round two of matches provided all teams the chance to field inexperienced players for development.
